Resort Finder By Ski.Com
Ski.Com provides a nice ski resort finder tool. Just type the parameters in and click “Search Resorts” and you will get a list of resorts suitable for your needs. Let’s me try it out. I am looking for a resort for me and my 4 and 13 year old sons. Number 1 for a parameter means “not important” and number 5 means “very important”.
- I need pretty easy access to slopes, I put 4
- it must be family/child friendly, I put 5
- easy slopes? Well, my kids are cool, they’ll survive
I put 3
- to intermediate slopes I put 3
- expert slopes? No need this time, I put 1
- terrain parks, hmm.. may be yes, could be nice, I put 2
- I am always into budget deals, I put 4
- no need for nightlife, a couple of beers at home is just fine. I put 1
- best cuisine? Not necessarily, I put 2
- kids need activities, I put 4
- same with events, I put 4
- exotic skiing? What’s that? I put 1, I am suspicious.

- same with shopping, I hate it. I prefer spending money for new pair of skis or such. I put 1
- with kids I need pretty easy access to resorts, I put 4
- we don’t need luxury accomodation, I put 1.
What did I get? I got six resorts. See them below.
1. Jackson Hole, Wyoming
2. Breckenridge, Colorado
3. Steamboat Springs, Colorado
4. Lake Tahoe, California
5. Crested Butte, Colorado
6. Keystone, Colorado
Good results, right? I think I would go to Jackson Hole. Not because it was the first one in the list, but because it is a classic resort. While Lake Tahoe would probably be good with kids as well and it would be an interesting resort, Jackson Hole and skiing in Wyoming is just so legendary that me and my little alpine skiers would probably head towards Jackson Hole.
Which one you would prefer?
