Paul from Skiing.ie sent me email some time ago and asked if I could inform the readers of homeboyski.com about his blog. Sure, that is exactly the point in blogging. I went to see Paul’s site and decided to write a short review of it. So, keep on reading to know more about Skiing.ie..

Let us start from the overall design. Shortly said, the design is really cool. I prefer white background in blogs with which Paul has combined blue and green pretty well. Logo nice and medium sized, links and text have nice fonts and good font sizes. The blog is organized so that there is a featured article first, and below the featured article you can find almost 10 recent articles and more links to the site and forum. On the right side of the blog you can find the recent posts and comments as well as a skiing video of the week. Yeah, looks good! I really like the design, may be because our upcoming facelift will have some similarities

What I would have done different is that I would add one big RSS button on top right corner instead of several small RSS buttons scattered. Also I would have placed the newsletter subscription button next under the RSS button. Also I would have located all the links together instead of locating some on left side and some on right side. All the rest looks good, especially the colour synchronization between the link bar, Google ads, weekly video and newsletter subscription.

Yo, next about the content and articles. I like that Paul ads a picture to each article. That is great, as we now that one picture tells more than one thousand words. I just wonder where are the tags? If I would like to read all articles related to ski resorts, how could I find them? Or are all the articles just news or featured articles? If yes, that is a simple tactic, but decreases usability a little. Paul writes interesting articles, such as Quiet Ski Resorts and Skiing in France.

Paul provides contact information and links on his site which I find good. Additionally there is a discussion forum in Paul’s site which adds interaction with readers.
