What To Do When You Cannot Go Skiing? – Surf Ski Webcams

Today I discovered an interesting website and decided to share the link. It is the Snoweye website full of links to webcams in ski resorts around the world. You can easily browse your favorite ski resorts and see what it looks like over there right now. For example, I wanted to see the weather conditions in Wengen in Switzerland right now, because there is a ongoing men’s Alpine Cup slalom. First of all you need to know the location of the resort because the links are organized based on their geographical location. This is a little bit difficult from the usability point of view. I know that Wengen belongs to the Bern area, so I clicked on “West” and the “Bern Region”. Wengen webcam is located at the bottom of the page. So, how is the weather in Wengen right now? It seems foggy. Not good.. Tomorrow there should be the men’s downhill which is my favorite race in the whole Alpine Skiing World Cup. If you look at Mürren (on the other side of the valley) webcam you see that the whole valley down to Interlaken is foggy. It seems foggy in Grindelwald cam as well.

If you can't go skiing, go surfing ski webcams!

Next I wanted to see how it looks in British Columbia in Canada. I browsed to Kicking Horse webcam and noticed that it is foggy there as well. It seems to be early morning in Silver Star where lifts are still closed. I wish I could go skiing in Kicking Horse but it seems to be one of those never ending dreams. In fact I would like to live one year in the Kicking Horse area.

Snoweye is not the only website linking to webcams. There is also another one, IfYouSki.Com. I checked the Chamonix webcam and I see people skiing there. Great! I wish I was there, in the heart of European alpinism. Val d’Isere webcam shows that it is snowing down there. It would be nice to go skiing in Val d’Isere this year, by the way. I would love ride a monoski in Val d’Isere. That would be some vintage skiing!

Ski webcams are pretty nice, but the global view is missing

These websites are missing one thing, which is the global coverage. I would like to have a look at webcams in Russian, Scandinavian and New Zealand ski resorts, etc. It would be nice to see very exotic ski resorts, such as in Hawaii. There are many interesting ski resorts most people do not know, like Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia. How about Valdez in Alaska? I am not sure if they have webcams, but it would be great to see what is going over there and what the weather looks in those distant ski resorts.

Check out those sites, they are interesting. It’s nice to take a look at the weather conditions in ski resorts around the world, just by clicking the webcam link. It is also a bit dangerous to surf those sites because I get addicted and forget I promised to clean our house today.. Just a couple of more webcams and then I’ll do some cleaning. I just want to see Verbier, Vail, La Clusaz, Cortina, Cervinia, Jackson Hole, Lake Tahoe.. Man, I am addicted already!

Which webcam do you find the most interesting one? What is your favorite ski webcam? Just drop a comment below.
