What To Do When You Cannot Go Skiing? - Surf Ski Webcams Around The World
Today I discovered an interesting website and decided to share the link. It is a Snoweye website full of links to webcams in ski resorts around the world. You can easily browse to your favorite ski resorts and see how it looks there right now. For example, I wanted to see the weather conditions in Wengen in Switzerland right now, because there is men’s Alpine Cup slalom ongoing. First of all, you need to know the location of the resort, because the links are organized based on their geographical location. This is a little bit difficult from usability point of view. I know that Wengen belongs to Bern area, so I browsed to “West” and the “Bern Region”. Wengen webcam is located on the bottom of the page. So, how is the weather in Wengen right now? It seems foggy. Not good.. Tomorrow there should be men’s downhill which is my favorite race in the whole Alpine Skiing World Cup. If you watch Mürren (on the other side of the valley) webcam you see that whole valley down to Interlaken is foggy. It seems foggy in Grindelwald cam as well.
Next I wanted to see how it looks in British Columbia in Canada. I browsed to Kicking Horse webcam and see that it is foggy there as well. It seems to be early morning in Silver Star where lifts are still closed. I wish I could go skiing in Kicking Horse but it seems to be one of those neverending dreams. In fact I would like to live one year in Kicking Horse are.
Snoweye is not the only website linking to webcams. There is also another one, which is in IfYouSki.Com. I checked Chamonix webcam and I see people skiing there. Great! I wish I was there, in the heart of European alpinism. Val d’Isere webcam shows that it is snowing down there. It would be nice to go skiing in Val d’Isere this year, by the way. I would love to purchase a monoski and go monoskiing in Val d’Isere. That would be some vintage skiing.
These websites are missing one thing, which is global coverage. I would like to see webcams of Russian ski resorts, Scandinavian ski resorts, New Zealand ski resorts, etc. It would be nice to see very exotic ski resorts, such as Hawaii. There are many interesting ski resorts most people do not know, such as Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia. How about Valdez in Alaska? I am not sure if they have webcams, but it would be great to see what is going in there and how the weather looks in those distant ski resorts.
Check out those sites, they are interesting. It’s nice to take a look at the weather condition in ski resorts around the world, just by clicking the webcam link. It is also a bit dangerous to surf in those websites because I get addicted and forget I promised to clean our house today.. Just a couple of more webcams and then I go cleaning. I just want to see Verbier, Vail, La Clusaz, Cortina, Cervinia, Jackson Hole, Lake Tahoe.. Man, I am addicted already!
