I just came across with http://www.stracka.com and decided to share the link in HomeboySki.Com because many skiers play golf as well. I don’t play golf, but many of friends in skiing are enthusiastic golfers. I know that as soon as the snow has melted, these guys rush to the greens. For those and others interested in golf I would like to present this interesting service I just discovered.

A Social Network for Golfers is a social site for golfers. At Stracka.com you can view a free online yardage book, post your scores, maintain your handicap, look at greens guides, and talk with your fellow golfers. Stracka.Com has a very nice layout and it is very easy to navigate. Even a guy like me can quickly get an overview of the whole site and understand what is provided by the site. And what’s best, the whole service is free.

It is amazing that you can pick up your favorite golf course and see it in the map! That is not even all, because you can watch a flyover tour video of it. I live in Finland and I found 51 Finnish golf courses in Stracka.Com. You can rate those courses and discuss about them by leaving comments. You can do this all after you have created a profile for yourself and signed in.

I must say this is a great service for golfers. Anyhow, I noticed one drawback and it is related to the Google maps in Stracka.Com. Finland is pretty far from major cities and therefore Google maps cannot be zoomed to sharper levels. This means that you cannot see the maps very detailed. Anyhow, the overall experience of Stracka.Com is just great. If I was a golfer, I would definitely check this out.
