The companies have their line-ups ready by the January or so (e.g. Völkl 08/09 in January   08)...trade shows, magazine testing, marketing efforts etc.  all require that the following season's line is already finished in the previous spring. And guess what, team skiers and company employees are probably testing gear for the 09/10 line-up right now!
