Think You Can Ride? (Motocross Related) – Snapshots from MX3 World Cup Start in Heinola, Finland

Whatever your take on motorsports, it is pretty hard to deny these guys can ride. Even for mountain bike geeks like us this stuff is very inspiring. Talk about making it look easy! I bet everyone that rides something two-wheeled can learn from watching these guys (and even skiers and snowboarders would probably learn a thing or two from motocross riders I guess?)

Too bad I forgot my own camera – I had to loan my father-in-law’s snapshot pocket cam. It was quite difficult to capture the action as its best but I think I managed half-decently with few shots.

The Finns did well in the event but the Belgian Sven Breugelman took the victory. Antti Pyrhönen had to settle for the second place and enduro specialist Juha Salminen was fifth. Check out the results and some more info here. I’ll let the pictures do the talking. The shots are from the first start of the MX3 (500cc) class.

Now THAT looks like fun. Surfing + mud + motorbikes = good times. I don’t care how dangerous motorbikes are supposed to be, I’m trying it one day for sure. Great pictures btw!

Yes, motocross is fun as hell! I’ve tried it only twice but liked to do it again for sure. It is also very very scary and a humbling experience…:) You get the feeling that you can kill yourself pretty easily.

That said, you’d love it I guess!

Nice one!
as a motocross rider and Part time surfer it is great to see other sports people appreciate diff sports. These guys are genuinely world class athletes. It is the most amazing fun i have ever had !
(pls dont tell my g friend i said that!) – but it is so true!

Adrenaline is a very addictive cheical so be careful. A friend who rides laughs when i say that cos he says of all the addictions to hav this one is OK.

Hmm maybe. Example. it has been 13 days since my last ride. And im in withdrawal BAD!!!!

I just moved from Melbourne Australia (25 degrees and sunny today) to Oslo in Norway (ZERO degrees and sunny) to hang out with a Norwegian nurse. She is very cool.

I have org to freight my bike from Melbourne. It will take 6 weeks but I cant wait!!!!! Again dont tell her! Funny thing is it costs less to freight it by sea to Norway than it does to freight it across Australa.

If you ever try otocross remember to start very slowly and learn to stop safely before you learn to go!!!!! Sounds funny but SOOOO imp.
I have many Xrays if you need some more evidencne.

Also remember these guys pictured have ridden for about 20 years and are pro riders. They eat sleep and ride.
They where racing when u and i where starting school. hence dont feel too inadequate. It is simply time on the bike. Time – same as suring, skiing etc.

Im off have to go learn to ski, thats next.

any tips on where to go and what to when in Oslo, pls reply to

Have fun!
