I've been hanging out at Courmayeur for over 20 years, but while I'm still loving the place in summer for hiking I became fed up with skiing over there.
Very little has been done over the last years to modernize the ski area. Instead, price have become crazy especially if compared to other ski areas in Italy (e.g. Cervinia), Switzerland (Zermatt, St Moritz) and France (hundreds of kilometers slopes...).
Moreover, they continue accepting snowboarders which is a real problem. Many ski runs are narrow and with inexpert snowboarders (the majority!), accidents have become very common.
As a ski destination, Courmayeur continues to make sense if you want to stay in a fashionable ski resort, where what counts is to be able to say "I was there". But for the ones really loving skiing... better move to more modern ski resorts.
